The Doberman Pinscher is named after its developer, a German tax collector called Louis Dobermann of Thüringen, Germany. Herr Dobermann was a door-to-door tax collector who needed a watchful guard dog to accompany him on his rounds. Universally known as a police dog, the agile, energetic, and ever-alert Doberman is a loyal, fearless guard and watchdog, and a favorite among dog lovers throughout the world.
