The authentic
origin of the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier cannot be
found in any records. Early on these dogs were bred for
their working qualities. They were used to extinguish
vermin, round up stock, guard the homestead, and later
on they were even known to be trained as gundogs. Sturdy
and resembling the Kerry Blue Terrier, the Wheaten is
gentler and less aggressive than other terriers, and a
good companion to children. |
