The Saint
Bernard's roots are believed to be in the Roman
Molossian Mastiff. It was not, however, until the mid
1600s that the breed developed into the magnificent dog
responsible for saving so many lives. The Saint Bernard
was once the only breed dedicated to mountain rescue,
and legends abound about it bringing half-frozen victims
back to life with the warmth of its own body. Cheerful
and loyal it adapts readily to family life. |
