The Labrador Retriever, Despite his name, did not come
from Labrador, but from Newfoundland. Labs,
as we know them today, were developed in Britain from
the excellent water dogs of nineteenth century
Newfoundland Island. During the war the Labrador served
as a mine detector, then as a guide dog and police dog.
Intelligent, and devoted, Labs are good with
children, and make prized pets. |
