The Havanese is an old breed with title to a colorful history. The Havanese is the National dog of Cuba and its only native breed. In Cuba, the little dogs were pampered as  the special pets of the elite and wealthy. The Havanese is also known as the Havana Silk Dog because it's coat  is like raw silk floss, plentiful, but very light. It is happiest when it is the center of attention. It is a great watchdog  and loving playmate of children.
