The origins of the Chinese Crested are difficult to trace. Obviously this breed does not adapt to a cold area, hence experts believe that its origins lie perhaps in Central Africa or Mexico. Common in China in the mid-1800s, the breed has been extinct there for half a century, although it is making healthy progress in Britain and North America.  Never aggressive toward children, this dog makes a good house pet.
