During the
Victorian era, the Bull Terrier, full of fire and
courage was used broadly as a combatant in dog
fights. This fighting dog was originally created in the
nineteenth century as a cross between the now extinct
white English terrier and the bulldog. Dog fighting was
later on banned by the English Parliament, and
breeders turned their attention to other qualities in
the breed. Today the bull terrier dedicates itself to
pleasing its master, but requires strict training and
control. |
