The Bernese
Mountain Dog is the only long coated member of the
quartet, or four varieties of the Swiss Mountain Dog. In
it's native land of Switzerland, the Bernese is known as
the Berner Sennenhund. It is nicknamed the 'bear cub.'
Originally a working dog, it is said that, as cattle
dogs, they can recognize each animal in the herd they
are tending. It has also proved to be a cheerful family
pet, and wonderful companion dog. |
