The Basset is believed to have come from the Bloodhound.
Its great sense of smell, very long ears, and wrinkles
above the eyes give much support to this notion. Native
to France, the Basset Hound has for centuries
flourished in Europe where it has been used for the slow
trail of rabbits, hare, and deer. The Basset has great
stamina, and is very popular as a domestic dog. It
is also very good with children. |
