The Alaskan
Malamute, among the oldest of the Arctic sled dogs was
named after the native Innuit tribe called Mahlemuts.
They have served as a good companion for thousands of
years pulling big sleds loaded with goods and human
cargo across the snow and ice. When Alaska became
settled by white men, the Artic breed may have become
mixed with outside dogs, but these sled dogs have never
lost their identity. |
